A classic example of Workflow Engineering by Xero. They look at the steps that their users take when performing the ‘task to be done’, in this case your bookkeeping.

They look for the inefficient parts, then implement features that reduce those inefficient parts, in this case emailing attachments directly into the Files Inbox. This removes the manual task of uploading and importing files.

My guess is that Xero will ultimately be aiming to scrape data off imported attachments and auto-populating line items on receipts and invoices. This would be a massive time saver and a game-changer in the bookkeeping market.
